Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is properly softened.
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract

For Decoration

  • ¾ cups sugar for decoration

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  • Gradually blend in the dry flour mixture to the wet mixture.
  • Scoop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough, roll them into balls, and roll each ball in sugar.
  • Place the sugar-coated balls onto ungreased cookie sheets and flatten each cookie with the bottom of a glass.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden around the edges.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets briefly, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies can be customized with lemon zest or chocolate chips. Store in an airtight container for a week or freeze for up to three months.
