For the Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey Warm slightly to dissolve more easily.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Use low-sodium for less saltiness.
  • 3 cloves minced garlic Freshly minced for best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For searing the chicken.
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Chicken

  • 4 pieces boneless chicken thighs Ensure they are patted dry for better browning.

For Serving

  • Rice Use white or brown rice.

Prep the Sauce and Chicken

  • In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Whisk until the honey dissolves slightly.
  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.

Sear the Chicken

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Add chicken thighs to the skillet and cook for 5 to 7 minutes per side, browning well.

Finish with the Honey Garlic Sauce

  • Pour the honey garlic sauce over the chicken and let it simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
  • Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Rest the chicken for 3–5 minutes.

Serve

  • Serve hot over cooked rice, spooning extra sauce over the rice.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari or coconut aminos. Refrigerate leftovers for 3-4 days, and freeze for up to 3 months.
