Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1.5–2 pounds boneless chicken thighs (skin-on or skinless, halal-friendly)
  • cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (low-sodium if preferred)
  • 4–6 cloves garlic, minced (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil (vegetable oil, canola, or light olive oil)
  • Cooked rice, for serving Serve it over steaming rice.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  • Use a heavy skillet for even heat. Let the oil shimmer but not smoke—about 2–3 minutes on medium-high.
  • Add the boneless chicken thighs and sear them until golden brown in a single layer for 4–6 minutes, then flip and sear the other side for 3–5 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Whisk until smooth.
  • Pour the sauce over the chicken thighs in the pan.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low and tilt the pan to coat the chicken with the sauce.
  • Cook for an additional 5–10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and coated in the sticky sauce.

Serving

  • Serve the honey garlic chicken thighs over rice.
  • Let the chicken rest for 3–5 minutes after cooking before slicing.

Notes

For extra caramelization, use skin-on thighs and sear skin side down first. For added heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes. Ensure chicken is halal-certified if needed. Store leftovers properly in airtight containers.
