Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce Use low-sodium if preferred.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces, about 1–1.5 inches each. Pat the pieces dry with a paper towel and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic until well combined. Set the sauce aside.

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken in a single layer and cook until browned on all sides, about 4–6 minutes.
  • Pour the honey garlic sauce over the browned chicken, reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer uncovered for 10–15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Grate a little lemon zest or squeeze lemon juice over the finished dish.
  • Serve immediately over steamed rice, noodles, or with roasted vegetables, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds.

Notes

For a tangy balance, add rice vinegar or lemon juice to the sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days, or freeze for longer storage. Prepare the sauce ahead of time for quicker cooking.
