Ingredients
  

Burger Patties

  • 1 lb Ground beef Choose 80/20 blend for juiciness.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.

Assembly Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Hamburger buns
  • 4 slices American cheese Can substitute with halal cheese if needed.
  • Lettuce leaves For topping.
  • Tomato slices For topping.
  • Onion slices For topping.
  • 1000 Island dressing or special sauce Store-bought or homemade.

Preparation

  • Remove ground beef from the fridge and handle it cold. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat or place a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Form the ground beef into four thin patties, making a dimple in the center of each. Season with salt and pepper.

Cooking

  • Cook the patties for about 3–4 minutes on each side. In the last minute of cooking, add a slice of American cheese on top of each patty.
  • Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or skillet until golden brown.

Assembly

  • Spread 1000 Island dressing on the bottom bun, layer with lettuce, add a patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.

Notes

Refrigerate leftover cooked patties and assembled burgers (without lettuce or tomato). Make the special sauce up to 3 days in advance.
